Halden, Donald "Roundy", age 86, of Bemidji, MN, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at the North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bemidji, MN. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, MN with Rev. Linnea Papke- Larson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Saturday. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery 12:30 PM Monday June 2, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Laura Halden of Bemidji, MN.

Donald Robert “Roundy” Halden, 86, of Bemidji, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at the North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Bemidji. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home of Bemidji with Rev. Linnea Papke-Larson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery of Ft. Snelling, Minn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Kusske, Brett Kusske, Gary Zerott, Mike Miller, Andy Fuller and Dan Gilbertson. He was born on Sept. 26, 1916, to Andrew and Ida (Newburg) Halden in Bradford, Minn. where he attended elementary school. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1934. He entered the service and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. After the service he lived in Richfield, Minn., and worked at Sears.
He married Laura Zerott on June 27, 1948 in Bradford. They lived in Richfield where he continued to work at Sears for 23 years, retiring in 1962. He then moved with his wife to Bemidji where they owned and operated Halden’s Lucky Landing Resort on Lake Plantagenet from 1962 to 1978. He worked in the Postal Service from 1964 to 1978.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and blueberry picking.
He is survived by his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
