Daniel K. Karson
![]() Karson, Daniel Kenneth, age 27, of Bemidji. Born June 2, 1976, in Fridley, MN, died Oct. 8, 2003, at Fairview University Medical Center, Mpls., of complications from blood/bone marrow transplant. After an eight-year struggle to find his way, Danny was diagnosed in the summer of 2002 with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), an inherited metabolic disorder. Danny was a 1994 graduate of Bemidji HS and proud member of its swimming team. He attended St. John's University, Collegeville, MN. He was a member of St. Philip's Catholic Community, Bemidji. Danny enjoyed life. Family and and friends were tremendously important to Danny, he loved all. He will be remembered for his beaming smile and friendly nature; for his handshakes and waves; for his thumbs up gesture and attitude; for his bravery and being a "trooper" during weeks of hospitalization. Danny had a wonderful and generous heart, unwavering Faith, and taught us much about patience, perseverance, hope and unconditional love. Survived by parents, Ken and Debby of Bemidji; sister, Holly (Kevin) Bergstrom and nephew Harvey Daniel of Coon Rapids; brothers, Shaun, Monticello; James, Mpls.; Joel, Bemidji; sister, Heather, Bemidji; grandmother, Frances (Jarmoluk) Karson of Elk River; numerous relatives and friends including the MLD Family, the BMT families on units 4A and 4B, the caring staff of FUMC and Clinics; and by his extraordinary physician, kind and faithful friend, Dr. Wm. Krivit. Preceded in death by grandparents, Walter (Karczewski) Karson of Elk River, Clifford and Gertrude (Gagnon) Peterson; and uncle, John Clifford Peterson of Maple Lake. Gathering program by family and friends at 10 AM, Saturday, October 25 at the Church of St. Andrew, 566 4th St., Elk River. Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Private interment at St. Timothy's Parish Cemetery, Maple Lake. You are home forever, Danny, and Walking With Jesus Daily. Blessed be the memory of Daniel Kenneth Karson.
