Ardis A. Lavander
Ardis A. Lavander of Cambridge, died February 4, 2004 at Grandview Christian Home at the age of 87. Services were held Feb. 11 from Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Erling Tungseth officiating. Music was provided by Diane and Reuben Ristrom. Organist was Mary Kay O'Neill. Pallbearers were Jim Rosa, Scott Kutz, Kraig Kutz, and Mark Melius Honorary pallbearer was Wayne Bedard. Interment was in Cambridge Lutheran Cemetery. She was born November 20, 1916 to Charles and Minnie Johnson, in Cambridge, MN. She graduated from Cambridge High School. Ardis was blessed with three daughters, Yvonne, Glenda, and Paulette. In her early years after graduation, Ardis owned the White Way Hamburger Shop and later was a Sears Catalog Merchant with her husband, Wally, for 17 years. She enjoyed being in the retail business and aimed to serve her customers. Throughout her life, Ardis was very active in many things. She was a life-long member of Cambridge Lutheran Church and belonged to Lydia Women's Circle. She participated in Women's Aglow and Christian Women's Club. She was a member of the local Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of Isanti County Council for the Handicapped. She became very active in many senior citizen activities, clubs, and programs. Among these were the Golden Ages, the Senior Federation, and the Isanti County Council on Transportation. She was a very dedicated volunteer. She volunteered at SAC's Senior Center and participated in many fund-raising shows for SAC's. Working at Shalom Shop twice a week was her ultimate joy. In 1989, Ardis received the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award and was invited to the Minnesota State Fair to meet Rudy Perpich. She also was very active in Grandview's activities and volunteered her time there too. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wally; brothers, Roger and Carol. She is survived by her daughters, Yvonne (Don) Kutz of Plymouth, Glenda (Wayne) Bedard of Moundsview, and Paulette (Prasad/fiance) Lavander of Cambridge; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister Regina Melius of Cambridge; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
