Lois Ethel Anderson Stone

Our beloved wife and mother, Lois Ethel Anderson, went to be with her Lord on June 30, 2006. She is survived by many loving family member; her husband, James Stone; her sister, Marilyn Anderson Carlson; her brother, Carl Anderson; her two daughters, Mary Lynn Stone Bennett and Diane Jean Stone Swartz; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lois was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on July 1, 1925. After attending Roosevelt High School, she attended the University of Minnesota where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She married her husband Jim on June 28, 1947.

After moving with her family to Fox Island in 1958, she received her bachelor of arts in education degree from Pacific Lutheran University. She then began teaching in the primary grades at Artondale Elementary School. She taught, loved, many first and second graders for the next 25 years. In 1985, she received the Ellen Fay Award for contribution to Educational Excellence from the Peninsula School District.

Lois enjoyed being involved in her community. She was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. She spent many years serving in her church, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and enjoying the fellowship of her many friends.

Because of her love for children, the family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in her name to the United Church of Christ, Fox Island, Sunday school and Children's Fund. Celebration of Life Service will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the United Church of Christ Fox Island.
